How to create Longer, Fuller Lashes

When applying makeup it is the goal of every girl to highlight her best feature, and making it more prominent. For many of us, myself included, your best feature is your eyes. But let's face it some of us weren't blessed with Long, Full volumptious eyelashes that are desired. Versus using falsies, or getting lash extensions I've listed some makeup tips, that teach you how to make your eyelashes appear longer and fuller.
When applying eyeliner a lot of people make the mistake of making the line to thick , therefore making the eyes appear smaller. This is a mistake that I frequently make myself. So when applying your eyeliner you want to get it as close to the Lash line as possible. If you are using a pencil, make sure to sharpen the edge to a point which allows easier application. If your use liquids or powder eyeliner, you want to apply with a brush at the base of the Lash line; which is where the lashes grow. Make sure when you are applying that you apply in gentle strokes, versus just sweeping across.

Step One If you are unsure what type of Eyeliner to use, one I would recommend for this purpose is the Cream to Powder Eyeliner by Jane Iredale. You won't get more fun or versatility from one product than you will from these beautiful cream-to-powder combinations. Mix them for your own custom shade, and also wear as shadows or brow color. Best of all, once they're set, they will stay and stay. And because this is a Cream to Powder Eyeliner, you are going to want to apply using a brush, Jane Iredale also makes the Dual Eye Liner/Brow Brush; A double-ended brush that makes lining and smudging so easy.

Another Trick to remember when applying eyeliner is to only line the inner lids on the top, with a gel eyeliner to maake it look more natural. lining the inner lid on the bottom does nothing but make your eyes appear smaller, and takes away from your lashes. A good Gel Liner is the Incredible Wear Gel Liner by Youngblood, Draw those lines bold or fine! Our intensely colored, long-wearing formula glides on smoothly like a liquid liner with the precision of an eye pencil. Non-irritating, very water-resistant and budge-proof.

Step Two The next step is to curl your lashes, to make the mascara go on easily. Instead of using a regular lash curler, that uses pressure to force lashes to curl, try a heated lasher. The Heated Lash Curler by Blinc, is simple-to-use and easily shapes lashes in seconds, with extravagant, long-lasting curves. Nothing sets a curl better than heat...after all, that's how we curl the hair on our heads! It's the same for your lashes. Not only is it safer, heated curls last longer than pressure curls. And then you apply your mascara, it's alsways good to pick a good mascara that doesn't clump and isn't damaging to your lashes. The Treatment Mascara Duo by Brenda Christian is a Double-ended miracle Mascara conditions eyelashes, actually plumping them from the inside out with special Panthenol filled eylash primer and mascara. Plastic surgeons recommend Treatment Mascara Duo because it is easy to remove and allows gentle removal with any facial cleanser.

Step Three The lasts tep is to apply your eyeshadow. To make your lashes appear longer do not aply dark shadow that will blend in with your dark lashes. to make your lashes stand apart form your shadow, use a lighter tone. highlighting just under your brow bone with a darker shade. The Ballerina GloEye Shadow Trio by GloMinerals. A complete shadow application trio, complete with contour, highlighter and liner shades. Looking to make color combination selections in a hurry? GloEye Shadow Trio is all you need. Complete with contour, highlighter and liner shades, this all-in-one eye shadow compact supplies you with a color coordinated palette for any occasion. Each color-rich trio is precisely matched to achieve timeless beauty with crease-free coverage and beautiful hues.

How to use makeup brushes for beginners

Since I’ve first started using makeup, I’ve always applied products with whatever applicator came with it. For example, I use the sponges that come with my foundation, and mini brushes that come with my eye shadows. Which when you think about it, isn’t really hygienic. But the beauty world is constantly changing and growing, and one concept that has definitely changed is makeup brushes. The great thing about using makeup brushes is the quality of your application is drastic. I can admit I was very intimidated to make the switch from simple application tools, to hi-quality brushes. A lot of people don’t make the switch because of the price difference. But purchasing high quality brushes are the best investment you can make. And you will see the difference in your application of makeup, and you’ll feel better knowing that your tools are more hygienic.

For those of you that are beginners to the world of makeup brushes it can be complicated, when you look online or go into a store there are dozens of different brushes, with different uses and it can get confusing in the sense of which brush to use. Below I’ve listed the 5 Key Brushes that you need when applying makeup:

Powder Brush—the powder brush is the most important, because it is the one you apply your foundation with. This is normally the first thing you do when applying makeup. A good quality brush to use is the Mirabella Powder Brush; a fluffy domed shape brush, made with Bai Jiang Feng Goat Hair. It's ideal for loose or pressed powder application. The Powder Brush dusts just the right amount of powder on skin for a translucent, even and polished application.

Blush Brush—the blush brush is meant to be used as a highlighter for face makeup. Meaning you use this brush when applying your blush or illuminating makeup. It’s made to easily apply product to the angles in your face, where as the powder brush is to large. Mirabella’s Blush Brush is perfect for applying blushs. Its Ideal tapered brush is sized for a natural application of Cheek Colour. Made of Bai Jiang Feng Goat Hair, its firmer texture picks up just the right amount of powder without streaking.

Eyeshadow Brush—When shopping for brushes you have to be careful, there are many different types of shadow brushes; for contouring, blending, even ones that are combination brushes that work for eyeliners and eyeshadows. The Blending Brush by Mirabella is a French style flat shadow blending brush; Made with soft virgin pony hair it works well for all types of shadow application, laying down colour evenly and easily.

Eyeliner Brush—Just like when you are shopping for an Eyeshadow brush, when looking at eyeliner brushes you have to find the one best suited for your needs, especially for the type of eyeliner you like to wear. The Detail Brush by Mirabella made with virgin pony hair, is cut to the perfect taper that allows it to work for any application that requires detail. It’s perfect for eyeliners, and even works with powder eyeshadows.

Lip Brush—When picking out a lip brush it’s best to get one that comes in a container with a cap, you don’t want the brush you use on your mouth to just be laying around where germs can get on it. This is why the Covered Lip Brush by Mirabella is perfect for applying lipsticks, stains and even lip glosses. This covered sable lip brush is elegantly tapered for precise application of lip products. Its cover makes this brush ideal for travel and carrying in purse so that wherever you are, you have the tools you need for that constant lip coverage you desire.

Bring the Spa to You

After a hard day at work, it is always good to get some R&R, or treat yourself to some pampering. But let’s face facts, it can get pretty pricey going to the spa once or twice a week. So many of us go without, and find other things to substitute. The good news is that you don't need to! You can reap all the benefits of a spa facial right at home with an at-home facial.

Just play a little make-believe, and turn your home into a spa. Right in the comfort of your bedroom, you can close the shades and turn on relaxing music. You can even go as far as lighting some scented candles, and laying on your bed while you let your facial do it’s magic.

But to get ready for your at-home facial, you need to do three steps:

Step 1--Cleanse
If you have on any makeup, gently remove with makeup remover. Clean your face with the Blueberry Soy Exfoliating Cleanser by Eminence. Cleanse and refine dry, dull skin with naturally exfoliating AHA to reveal a polished and smoothed complexion. Antioxidant and tannin-rich blueberries combine with the healing powers of soy to purify and tighten your pores for a luminous, healthy glow. Use circular motions with a washcloth to gently cleanse the skin.

Step 2--Exfoliate
Exfoliating your skin is the key to keeping it smooth and healthy. Use a small amount of the Pear & Poppy Seed Microderm Polisher by Eminence. Polish your skin to perfection with the natural microdermabrasion action of poppy seed and fine walnut. Scrumptious pear and apple pulp infuse your skin with bioflavonoids and antioxidants. All signs of roughness and dryness will be smoothed away to leave a smooth glowing complexion. Don’t forget to pay attention to your neck and chest, because these are areas that show skin blemishes and again just as much as your face. When done, rinse your face clean with warm water.

Step 3--Open Pores
This is the most important step in your facial, opening your pores; it is also the most relaxing. You get a towel and soak it in hot water. While laying down, place the towel over your face and just relax until the towel becomes cold.

Now that you’ve cleansed, exfoliated and opened your pores; you can now apply your mask. Apply the Cranberry Pomegranate Masque by Eminence. The antioxidant superpowers of cranberry and pomegranate combine in a delicious masque loaded with whole fruits, seeds, and juice. The high levels of vitamin c and polyphenols revitalize and protect while improving skin tone and the signs of aging. Complement your health with this wonderfully nutrition-packed masque that is also high in flax seed oil, sunflower and gooseberry. Once you’ve applied masque to your face, neck, and chest lie down and close your eyes. Even lay some cucumber slices over them if the mood strikes. Typically you lay for 15-20 minutes depending on how long your masque takes to set. Once the masque has set, rinse with warm water until your face is clean. Be sure to check by your hair line, and around your nose as to not miss any traces of the masque.

After your face is clean the last thing you can do for your at-home facial is apply a moisturizer. Apply the Guava & Bamboo Age-Defying Moisturizer by Eminence; Bamboo and guava join forces in this strengthening moisturizer for all skin types. Elasticity and hydration are returned to the skin with the strength of bamboo, loaded with antioxidants, vitamins and proteins and when partnered with exotic carotenoid-rich guava, the result is strong, healthy skin. Be sure to gently massage until absorbed into skin.

And now you are Rested and Relaxed, having brought the Spa to your home.

10 Beauty Secrets every teen should know

As Girls we love makeup. Our first experience with makeup is one to cherish. We are bold, fearless, and the starting to an addiction is born. Unfortunately not all of us started with fine toned skills to applying makeup…and let’s be honest most of us didn’t start out with good taste. Sometimes I look at old pictures, and I visibly cringe and I can’t help but ask: Why would I do that to my face? Why did I even think that looked good? So today, I’ve listed 10 Beauty Secret to help out the teens in the world to making their first makeup experience one to cherish.

1. Skip the Foundation? if you’re struggling with acne, your first instinct is to either cover it up or skip foundation all together. but you don't have to, use a mineral light weight foundation that gives you the coverage you desire, and still allows your skin to breathe.

A great mineral makeup line to try is the Mirabella Basic 4 Mineral Kit. Get Started with Mirabella   mineral powder, with it's new top ranking formula. Each kit includes the Pure Press, Pure Sun and Pure Finish Mineral Powders designed to create a flawless complexion with a full size Kabuki Brush.

2. Pat Concealer, Don't Rub it in, when applying concealer, put a bit on the pad of your middle finger and pat it in. Never rub. Got acne? Pat the concealer on top of it.

3. Choose one feature, not Two don’t play up your eyes and lips with bold color. Choose one or the other. Or you’ll be having those colors clash against each other instead of stand out…or at least stand out in a good way.

4. Always Remove Makeup, removing your makeup is always important, and it is never a good thing when you go to bad with last nights makeup still on your face. avoid clogged pores, and skin blemishes and invest in a good makeup remover.

A makeup remover I would recommend is the Simply Remove by Mirabella. Anti-aging, skin smoothing makeup remover formula contains antioxidants and natural ingredients that do more than remove makeup--they assist in skin repair.

5. Layers and Layers of fun Want a hairstyle that’s never out of fashion that looks good on anyone; you can never go wrong with layers. It makes thin hair appear thicker, curly hair appear manageable and wavy hair appear just-got-back-from-the-beach chic!

6. Got the Acne Blues? If your acne is still there, no matter what you do the best thing is get a good facial cleanser made to help eliminate acne.

Use the Clearing Skin Wash by Dermalogica to help clear you skin. This is a naturally0foaming cleanser that is a perfect start to around-the-clock control of breakouts, comedones and excess surface oils.

7. Test before you buy some things might look good on the shelf, but when it comes to lipstick or foundation test before you try on you don’t want to make a mistake when it comes to color and your skin tone.

8. Sunscreen? Yes! There is never a time to skip the sunscreen. The first beauty product you should apply every day is sunscreen, even if it's cloudy or rainy outside. Why? Good habits start young and if you use sunscreen now, you'll have gorgeous skin when you're 50.

Help protect your skin, with the Tropical Vanilla Sun Cream by Eminence. Natural SPF protection for all skins with broad spectrum UVA/UVB/UVC protection. Treat your skin with the protection of zinc in this tropical UVA, UVB and UVC blocker specially designed for your face. Hydrating and revitalizing shea butter combines with the fragrant aroma of soothing vanilla to care for your skin with the defenses of natural SPF.

9. Line your eyes just right If your goal is to make your eyes appear bigger, not line the inside of your eyes, it will make them appear smaller. Just stick to lining along lash line.

Not sure what eyeliner is right for you? there are many choices: gel, liquid, powder...but it always comes down to, easy application and long-lasting coverage that narrows down our choices. A great one to try is the Incredible Wear Gel Liner by Youngblood. Draw those lines bold or fine! Our intensely colored, long-wearing formula glides on smoothly like a liquid liner with the precision of an eye pencil. Non-irritating, very water-resistant and budge-proof.

10. Play up your best feature What feature do people comment on most? Play it up. If you're told you have Angelina Jolie lips, make sure to wear gloss and play with bold lipstick colors. If it's your eye color people love, find Eyeshadow colors that complement them and make sure to wear mascara.

Fresh, healthy skin isn't just so that we look good, it's so you feel good! At Mission Beauty Salon & Spa we offer many different choices for your skin care needs. Today I'm going to show you a Nightly Skin Care Regima that not only will make you feel good in the morning, but look good too.

Step One: Makeup Remover
This is a very important step, a dirty face leads to loss of hydration and also can lead to acne. Most makeup products can contain certain oils that can damage your skin if you don't wash it off at night. our pores need to breathe! A great product to use is a toner, it will help restore the pH of the skin and remove any remaining oils and makeup. Murad's Hydrating Toner holds much needed moisture and softness in your skin. This classic toner rebalances and rehydrates skin while neautralizing surface impurities. Containing witch hazel, the Hydrating Toner tightens pores without drying out your skin.

Step Two: Facial Cleanse
Even with your makeup removed, you'd be suprised on what gets left behind, so it is always good to use a cleanser. Gently massage the cleanser into the skin, washing thoroughly with warm water. Be careful to rinse off the residue completely. The cleanser will remove any dirt and debris in and on the skin. The Warm water opens the pours allowing any bacteria, and impurities in your skin. When cleansing your face it is always important to use a quality facial cleanser. Gently apply the cream under and around the eye.The Renewing Eye Cream by Murad, dramatically increases moisture, elasticity and firmness to your skin. It Reduces medium-to-deep crow's feet and wrinkles. The Renewing Eye Cream diminishes puffiness for an illuminated, bright-eyed appearance.

This will remove any dry and dead skin. Apply a lip balm to soften and heal chapped lips. Murad's Energizing Pomegranate Lip Protector, revitalizes and protects dry, dehydrated lips. By improving texture to restore suppleness and infusing antioxidants to fight free radicals. Pomegranate Extract and UVA/UVB sunscreens provide powerful antioxidant protection.

Step Five: Moisturizer
Use a quality moisturizer that will not irritate the skin. An all natural organic moisturizer is a good choice because they do not contain any chemicals or harsh additives. The type of moisturizer you use will depend on your skin type such as dry, sensitive, or oily skin. A good moisturizer will remove debris, dead skin cells and pollutants, soothe and rejuvenate the skin, nourish the skin with vitamins and minerals, maintain normal ph levels, and help with cell regeneration. The Right Hairstyle for your Face Shape

The purpose of a haircut, is to choose a hairstyle that compliments your face. We all want to look good, that is a given. We choose our clothes, makeup & hair products to look good based on our individual style. But how to choose the right haircut? long? short? curly? straight? We all ask ourselves these questions when we are getting or contemplating a new hairstyle. For me, personally, I tend to stick with what I know, I'm not very adventurous when it comes to change, since I fear being stuck with a hairstyle that looks bad. so while craving a change, I never actually go through with it. some of you may also be having this problem out there, and I've written today's blog to help find the right look based on the shape of your face. Why is this so important? Simply put, if the wrong hairstyle is created for the wrong face shape, the result is a disaster. In fact, even if a well executed, well cut hairstyle is performed on the wrong face shape, the result is still a disaster. It's all about putting the perfect frame around a person's face to balance and bring perspective to the overall shape.

Oval Face Shape

  • Curvilinear shape.

  • Length is equal to one and a half times width.

  • The forehead and jaw are the same width.

  • If you are blessed with an oval shape face, then you are definately in luck! Having an Oval Face Shape means almost all hairstyles will work for you. What you need to worry about is avoiding hairstlyes that hang in your face or eyes. Long, Short, Curly or Straight all these looks will look great on you, as long as you don't hide your beautiful bone structure!

    Round Face Shape
    • Circular shaped.
    • Length is approximately equal to width.
With this face shape, you have to be very careful, the wrong hair cut can make your hair seem even more round, if that's possible. The goal is to create more length and less width to your face. Some good tips to try is to add height and fullness at the crown to give an illusion of a narrower face shape, particularly those short in length. No bangs are ideal for this face shape, but you choose to have bangs they should be swept across. This Face Shape should avoid side parts in the hair, and heavy straight across bangs.

    Square Face Shape
    • Strong and broad forehead.
    • Angular jaw.

With a Square Face Shape, you more than likely have a very strong jaw line, and you want to choose a hairstyle that softens it.Short to medium length hair will suite you with this face shape, with wispy hair falling into your face to minimize square shapes. Avoid blunt bobs, and striaght parts with bangs they work against you.

    Heart Face Shape
    • Wide at the forehead and cheekbones.
    • Narrow at the jawline.

For people with Heart Shape Faces, you want to add length to your face, and create width for your narrow chin. Textured chin-length hairstyles suit this face shape the best. side-swept bangs can be used, as long as they are not straight across, which would make face appear shirter and wider. avoid straight across bangs, and short full hairstyles.

    Diamond Face Shape
    • Forehead and jawline are narrow.
    • Cheekbones are wide and high.
Diamond face shapes need to balance a narrow chin, minimize wider cheek bones and shorten the overall length. Hairstyles that add width at the chin area such as chin length bob cuts or shoulder length wispy kicked out looks. Hairstyles with straight across bangs will also work to shorten long faces, as will side parts. Try and avoid short hairstyles with height on top, particularly ones without bangs. Avoid styles that leave no hair on the neck area or the chin area.

    Triangle Face Shape
    • Forehead and cheekbones are narrow.
    • Jawline is wide.
With a triangular face shape the object is to narrow your chin and widen your forehead. Layered hairstyles will help balance and soften your prominent jaw line. Styles with layers that taper at the jaw line can also be flattering. Avoid any hairstyle which will draw too much attention to your chin area such as straight solid bob cuts.

    Oblong Face Shapes
    • Face is longer than it is wide.
    • Long, straight cheek line.
The object is to add width to minimize vertical length. Styles that are short to medium in length with longer top layers without height are best suited such as wedge and graduated bob cuts. Chin and shoulder length looks that turn under or kick out also work very well to add width. Avoid Hairstyles that add height at the crown or on top will only lengthen your face. Wispy chin length styles that have no body or that don't add width through the sides should also be avoided.

Now that you've found out what your face shape is, and what styles work best for you, you can change your look up. And if you want some new styling products to go with your new hairdo check at Mission Beauty Salon & Spa and see what we have to offer for your haircare needs!

And I'm sure you've learned by now planning a wedding is hard work, especially since it's on a pedistal for being the happiest day of your entire life! With picking the flowers, cake, and the dress all us brides really want on our special day is to look and feel amazing!

Choosing a makeup look to highlight your best features on a day-to-day basis is tricky enough, and finding a makeup look for your wedding day is downright intimidating. And we all want to avoid the horror of a bad wedding photo, that you're stuck with for the rest of your life. Luckily, you came to Misson Beauty Salon & Spa's Blog...and yours truly! Where we have all the tools you'll need to guarentee you look beautiful on your special day.

But First there are many questions you must ask yourself when considering your look: What time of the year will you be getting married? Where do you plan on getting married? What look goes best with me? Have no fear ladies! I've listed 4 Gorgeous Wedding Looks to help you answer all these questions! And because you love me...I've even listed the products you'll need to create each look!

Smoky Eyes A Good rule of thumb with the classic-never-failing Smoky Eye Look is if you're playing up your eyes, keep your cheeks and lips toned down with nuetral colors. The Smoky Eye is amazing because it makes your eyes POP, and you don't want bright blush and vibrant lips to take away the breath-taking effect.

Now the common mistake with the Smoky Eye, is that people more often then not mistake the Smoky Eye Look as black or dark eye makeup smudged around the eye. "Smoky" is a term describing the method in which the Eye Shadow is placed. And the great thing is, you can create a Smoky Eye with any color. The look consists of usually 3-4 different colored eyeshadows that are blended together to give a smoked out illusion around your eyes. Giving your eyes a dramatic flair, perfect for those brides who want that look-at-me effect.

A great Eyeshadow to use to create this look is the Pressed Mineral Eyeshadow Quad, by Youngblood. These incredibly buttery Eyeshadows are combined with Youngblood's best sellers and fresh new shades to creat perfect quad palettes. This special formulation includes rice powder for a long wear. Loaded with high pigments, use these quads to create interplays of complementary colors to bring out your eyes. What I really love about this eyeshadow quad is that Youngblood offers it in 8 stunning combinations, which works if you want the classic smoky eye with greys and white, or if you want a smoky eye with some splash of color. Available in Gemstones, Eternity, Timeless, Shanghai Nights, Purple Majesty, Mermaid, Vintage & Starlet.

Combine your Smoky Eyes with softly colored cheeks, think light pinks and soft peaches. For a soft, barely there blush use the GloCream Blush by GloMinerals. Get an instant glo with our GloCream Blush. Offers a rich, creamy formulation to give a soft, natural flush of color. Apply this high pigment color to cheeks using the cream blush brush for an instant, natural glo. Whether your want Pink or Peach tones, Fig and Guava are the perfect shades for that soft, subtle effect you're going for.

Finish the look with barely-there lips. Nude Lips go perfect with this look, it really brings out the slight flush to your cheeks, and makes your eyes positively sparkle. Just slather on some Erin PureMoist Lip Colour by Jane Iredale and you're ready to shine! While this look can work anytime of the year, evening weddings or very formal occasions are the best fit and the look can be adjusted to fit your specific features and complexion.

Bahama Mama  Bronzed, glowing healthy skin and alluring eyes is what makes this look work. A cream or liquid bronzer combined with the right foundation to give you that beautiful wedding glow. This look is wonderful for late spring, and early summer outdoor wedding. this look is not as flashy as the Smoky Eye, but it still is stunning with dewy, naturally radiant skin. A good rule of thumb, when combining bronzer, foundation, and a highlighting product it is always good to use the same brand, because they are formulated to intermix well together.

First apply a highlighting product lightly on the face where the sun would naturally hit. For Example the sides of your forehead, cheeks, bridge of the nose and the tip of your chin. It gives your face an automatic lift, and added slimness. A great highlighter is the Illuminating Serum, by ColoreScience. Give your skin a healthy, luminous base with the Illuminating Serum in bronze or champagne kiss. This radiance-boosting formula is rich in patented-peptides, powerful, antioxidants and hydrating hyrulonic acid. To give you that perfect Wedding Glow.

Next apply your foundation. Since you are combining it with a cream or liquid bronzer, stick to a pressed mineral foundation. A good one to use, especially if you are having an outdoor wedding is the Pressed Mineral Pigment Compact, by ColoreScience. Pressed Mineral Foundation provides light to full coverage with a weightless, non drying feeling on the skin. It gives the appearance of perfection without the thick look of traditional pressed powder.  These pure pigments are designed to glide on smoothly for the perfect colore, available in 12 amazing shades.

And to really capture the essence of the Wedding Glow you finish off with a Bronzer. Luckily ColoreScience has many products that can be used as a bronzer. Much more than just a self-tanner, the Bronzer Brush SPF20 can be used for contouring and highlighting, adding richness and warmth to your complexion. It let’s you layer and blend your colore so you can achieve a weightless, healthy-looking glow every time.To add a little spice to this look, a light lip color in bronze, apricot, caramel and toffee can be mixed with  gold, brown and bronze eyeshadows to give an exotic yet refreshed look. June through August is the best time of year to try this look, especially for a beach or outdoor wedding.

Autumn Sun The purpose of this look, is color. Autumn is a beautiful time of year, with bold splashes of color rich, jewel colored tones are used in this look.
