Beauty Resolutions for the New Year

As we come to the end of 2011, many of us are looking back on the year and the resolutions we had made the year before. Looking ahead to 2012, many of us are looking for change! I’ve been scrambling to pick a good New Year’s resolution, and mine for the year is a Newer, more Mature Me!

I know that it’s impossible to get a “new” you, what I mean is, I want a new look. Instead of doing the same beauty techniques; having the same hair, the same makeup, the same old clothes…. I’m craving a change. Some of you out there may be feeling the same, whether you’re getting older, and wish to add some youthful flair in your life, Or if you’re younger, and you want to finally be seen as an adult, I have some tips to give you that change, and “New” You Flair!

Unfortunately, I am cursed with a baby face, I look younger than my actual age, and it’s very frustrating. Many people assume that everyone wants to look younger but if you’re like me and you want to look your age here are some tips that will help you:

#1 Focus on your Cheeks: Take a Darker Tone blush, and create contours to your cheeks. When you have a round face, or your cheeks are a little to filled in, it makes you look almost child-like. By using blush, it creates curves to your cheeks that will give you a mature appearance. A great blush that I love is the Purepressed Blush by Jane Iredale. The Colors are so subtle and natural you’ll look like you’re glowing from the inside out! Another blush they offer is the In Touch Cream Blush, you just sweep across you cheeks for a flush that’s soft, dewy and natural. You can also use on your lips for a pulled-together look that stays all day and all night!

Trick: A good trick to try if just using a darker blush doesn’t seem to do it, combine a lighter blush to your look, by sweeping lighter blush above the cheek bones. This will make the darker blush contouring your cheeks more prominent.

#2 Focus on your Lips: Forget about the light pinks and nude lipsticks or glosses. You need to apply dark shades! Darker shades make you appear older. Apply an outline with a Lip Liner and then fill in with a Lip Stick or a Lip Gloss. If you want fun colors in a wide range of beautifully bright shades, I recommend Mirabella. The Colour Shine by Mirabella is infused with Vitamin C, Vitamin E and peppermint leaving your lips hydrated and refreshed. They also make corresponding Lip Liners with the Lip Lustre Liner by Mirabella. The Long-wearing shiny finish creates the perfect base for lip gloss formulas.

#3 Focus on your Eyes: Dark Eyebrows and Thick, Healthy Lashes also help to making you appear older. If you weren’t naturally gifted with these two things, there are ways to make them appear so.

  • For Lashes, apply mascara heavily to make lashes look healthy. Apply Eye Liner to your upper lashes. Note: Refrain from putting Eye Liner on lower lashes, it is a look most commonly used by Teenagers.

A Great Eye Liner that I personally Love is the All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner by Stila. It goes on like a Pen! It’s fast! It’s easy! I literally do not go to work without it! Goes on smoothly without skipping, smudging or pulling!

  • For Brows, when using an Eye Pencil to darken your brows, choose a shade darker or the same shade as your hair. Carefully apply, don’t over do it, or else it will appear artificial.

Stila also make an All Day Waterproof Brow Color that leaves your brows looking naturally defined. The formula glides on with ease, and stays put until you say when!

New Year’s Eve is a time of Fun! Where people go out and celebrate the end of one time period and the fresh beginning to another. I hope my tips get you one step closer to a more Fabulous you, for New Years! All these products I’ve recommended can be found at MissionBeautyOnline.com
