Ten Hair Styling Tips to change your look

Is your hair putting you to sleep? Fear not, I’ve made a guide that helps spice up your life, with Ten Hair Styling Tips to change your look—you’d be surprised on how simple some of these steps are!
Tip #1 Find a shampoo that lathers less.
Sudsy shampoo doesn’t necessarily mean clean—sometimes, it means the opposite. Scary thought. Shampoos that lather too much are often overloaded with moisturizing products, which can leave build-up in your hair, making it look and feel dirtier quicker. So opt for a sulfate-free formula.

The Color Ensure Sulfate-free Shampoo by Pravana is specifically formulated to actually maintain the vibrancy of color-treated hair for a longer period of time. Pravana’s exclusive Naturceutical Complex helps to strengthen and provide shine. Sulfate-free Color Ensure Shampoo gently but thoroughly cleanses without stripping color. Special UV filters protect hair against color-robbing ultraviolet rays.

Tip #2 Give your locks a burst of cold.
Before you hop out of the shower, turn the cold water on for a second and quickly rinse it through your hair. It helps seal the cuticle, adding a sleek finish to your locks.

Tip #3 Play hot-and-cold as you dry.
When using a round brush to dry your hair in sections, start from the roots and dry all the way to the ends, letting the brush linger at the tips of your strands. Let your hair cool off on its own for five seconds, then repeat another section. Alternating between heat and cool-down time helps set your style and your blowout will have more body.

Tip #4 Do an at-home glaze between color appointments.
Glazes fill holes and rough spots in your hair cuticles, helping smooth your locks and put moisture back into your hair. This keeps your color shiny and bright so it lasts longer and looks better.

The Texturizing Glaze by Alterna is a lightweight thermal-styling lotion that texturizes the hair to separate and define. This moisturizing formula conditions the hair while leaving hair resilient and full with a natural shine. Formulated to extend the life of your hair color and restores strength while protecting hair from future damage.

Tip #5 Use rollers for high-volume.
For sex-kitten lift, blow out your locks until they’re dry. Then, section off the hair on top of your head—between your temples and all the way back to the crown of your hair. Divide that section into three smaller sections vertically, and wrap each in a 2-inch Velcro hair roller. Let your hair sit like this for 30 minutes, and then unwrap your strands, lightly comb them out, and spray for hold.

The Freefix Light Holding Spray by Brocato is a non-aerosol working spray; easy to work with and will provide the ultimate volume boost to your hair with an incredibly fast dry time. Will not create build-up or stickiness. This spray provides conditioning properties while allowing repetitive use throughout the day.

Tip #6 Drop the towel.
Keeping wet strands wrapped in a towel for a half-hour as you do your make-up will just cause frizz! The roughness of the cotton forces your hair cuticles open, making them more likely to go every-which-way. Instead, squeeze out excess water as soon as you’re out of the shower, then let your hair air-dry for five or ten minutes before blow-drying.

Tip #7 Apply products 10 minutes before you style.
Whether you’re curling, straightening, or whatevering, applying products 10 minutes in advance helps it fully absorb into your strands so you get all of its benefits and more bang for your buck!

Tip #8 Wrap—don’t clamp—your hair for quick curls.
When using a curling iron, you don’t need to fasten your locks to the barrel. Wrap sections around the iron and hold in place for 10 seconds to score the same soft, sexy curls.

Tip #9 Use spray bottles as your new lazy-day BFF.
If you wake up and your locks are totally flat or grungy from the day before, just spray the top layer of your hair until damp, and then use a big barrel round brush to blow your locks dry. You’ll score high volume on that top layer, and since it’s freshly blown out, you’ll create the illusion of all-over smooth hair.

Tip #10 Use dry shampoo a different way.
Instead of waiting until your locks need a dirt-fighting pick-me-up, apply a dab of dry shampoo to your roots immediately after you wash and dry them. Though your hair’s already clean, the barrier will stave off the debris and oil your strands will collect throughout the day before it hits.
Bonus—It also gives you killer volume.

The Re-energize Dry Shampoo by GloEssentials instantly cleanses and re-energizes without water or residue. Formulated with natural Hydrolyzed Silk Protein to provide smoothing and conditioning benefits for shinier, healthier hair.

7 Genius Lip Tricks to the Perfect Lipstick

We are all picky when it comes to lip color; it’s hard to find that perfect shade that works for you. And then once you find the right color, it’s hard to keep it on…..Frustrating isn’t it. But never fear ladies, I’ve listed 7 Genius Lip Tricks to help you pick the right color, and give you amazing coverage.

1. Finding the Perfect Shade.
To give your lips a dewy fresh appearance, stick with pink, it’s the never failing lipstick shade. It goes with any event, to give you a classic, elegant look.

Trick: If you’re unsure of which pink is best for you? Just Smile; your perfect shade is about the same color as your gums—no lighter!

2. Making Color Last.
To keep that gorgeous color where you want it, fill in your lip with a neutral lip pencil before applying color. It gives your lips a matte finish.

Trick: If pencil isn’t going on smooth, roll the tip in the palm of your hand to warm it up and prevent hard lines.

3. Create a Custom Shade.
If your color is starting to seem boring, warm it up!

Trick: Swipe a sheer golden gloss over color.

4. Creating the Perfect Shape:
Don’t like the shape of your lips? Give the illusion of two perfect peaks without lining lips.

Trick: Just dab concealer in the groove at the center of your upper lip, blend well!

5. The Perfect Nude Lip.
Start with a pale pink shade, and then dust translucent powder over color for a matte effect.

6. To Get the Color you Bought.
We buy lipstick shades, of glosses because we absolutely fell in love with the color. But sometimes no matter what you do, you can’t seem to make it that perfect shade you feel in love with.

Trick: Cover your lips with a touch of foundation, that way when you add color you’re starting out with a blank canvas.

7. Making a Lipstick into a Stain.
Turn any Lipstick into a durable stain by blotting, reapplying, and then blotting again to remove access oils.

Trick: Blot with lint-free blotting paper rather than tissue for a more natural, long-lasting look.

An Amazing Lipstick to try would be the Photo Finish Lipstick by Smashbox. Indulge your lips with silky, rich color. This innovative, exclusive sila-silk formula is enhanced with light reflecting polymers and silica for exceptional shine and flawless application. Vitamin E and Tahitian Flower provide plush, cushion-like comfort. This Amazing Lipstick was a Winner of a Self Magazine Healthy Beauty Award and a Glam Beauty Award Nominee for Best Lipstick.

The Color of January 2012

As women we all know everything comes down to color, the shade of your lipstick to your shade of nail polish. Colors are constantly changing when it comes to what’s Hot and what’s Not. For all of you Girly-Girls like me this months color will have you blushing! Pink Champagne is the Perfect Color this month, it goes perfect with any occasion whether you are having a lavish wedding, or a birthday party. Pink is the color of woman!

The Great thing about pink is that it can either be wild, or proper which allows pink to be used in any occasion. Pink is a womanly, warm, and sultry look that gives you a classic polish to any look. Pink instantly lifts and brightens skin tones, making it easy to make your look subtle or make a feature stand out.

Pink for the Eyes:

A sweep of soft pink shadow over the eyelids gives skin a dose of healthy, well-rested color. For a more defined look, line the lashes with a dark pencil. The eyeliner will give this ultra-feminine color a little edge.

Tip: Plus, if your eyes tend to get red, the darker pencil will prevent the pink from picking up any of that redness.

A great pink shadow that goes with this month’s color is the Sorbet Eye Colour by Mirabella. The Sorbet Eye Colour is an alluring array of intense shimmer, sheen and matte pressed mineral shadow.

Pink for the Cheeks:

Everyone has a little rosiness in their skin, so brushing on a pink blush looks more natural than wearing earth tones that we naturally gravitate to. In general, if your skin is light, the lighter your makeup shades should be, but with pink blush, even a brighter fuschia delivers beautiful color to your cheekbones.

If you want to create beautiful, flushed cheeks; the Cotton Candy Purepressed Blush by Jane Iredale is the right choice. With colors so subtle and natural you’ll look like you’re glowing from the inside out!

Pink for the Lips:

A pink, painted lip can really “freshen” your look, and the color options are endless. The color you choose for your lips create a statement. If you want a bright look that really shows your fireball personality, hot pink lipstick or matte stains are for you. If you prefer a look that is more subtle, powdery pinks combined with stronger eye makeup is the look for you.

A product I personally love is the Muse Colour Shine by Mirabella! It’s an Ultra-shine lip gloss in a wide range of beautifully bright shades. Infused with Vitamin C, Vitamin E and peppermint leaves lips hydrated and refreshed.

All these great products I've mentioned can be found at Mission Beauty Salon & Spa!

Secrets to Healthy Skin

The health of your skin is very important. A person’s skin is the reflection of their overall health. To achieve healthy fresh skin, you will need proper care, maintenance and dedication. An Important factor for perfect skin is choosing the right skin products. As often as possible, use products that contain natural ingredients. This ensures healthy, natural looking skin. A great skin care line to try would be Eminence Organics. They use only the healthiest ingredients, without any harmful chemicals or additives, chosen to give you premium results for all skin types. Below I have listed some simple guidelines to go by for perfect skin, with these three steps:

  1. Cleanse: Eminence cleansers use natural gifts from nature, such as lemon, eucalyptus and essential trace elements to remove impurities and to gently cleanse the skin. The result is skin that feels balanced and looks radiantly refreshed.

A great cleanser Eminence offers is the Blueberry Soy Exfoliating Cleanser. Made with Antioxidant and tannin-rich blueberries combine healing and soothing powers of soy to purify and tighten your pores for a luminous healthy glow and smoothed complexion.

I would also recommend the Coconut Milk Cleanser by Eminence; Nurture and cleanse in one delightful step with rich coconut milk, created to comfort dry, irritated or sun-kissed skin. The Coconut Milk Cleanser restores moisture balance and gives a dewy, fresh finish.

  1. Tone: Natural scents of authentic wild plum, rosehip and sweet red rose make these toniques by Eminence, a pleasure to use anytime. Spray directly onto cleansed skin before moisturizing or anytime skin needs to be refreshed. Regular use of toniques balance the skin’s natural Ph leaving it relaxed, nourished and glowing.
A popular Tonique that people are constantly using would be the Stone Crop Hydrating Mist by Eminence. This Tonique hydrates and refreshes your skin with the succulent and healing Stone Crop plant. It heals irritations and reduces pigmentation. This toner is great to use as part of a daily maintenance routine and for use with Sun Defense Minerals to increase your skin’s hydration level, leaving your skin smooth and moisturized.

Another Eminence product I would recommend is the Wild Plum Tonique. Wild Plum juice imparts mineral nutrients to stimulate fatigued skin. Pectin enriches and nourishes while salicylic acid removes all surface impurities. And it smells so great you won’t be able to get enough of it.

  1. Moisturize: Eminence Moisturizers are packed full of vitamins and nutrients extracted from the whole fruits and vegetables that are used in their making. Eminence moisturizers are whipped for four to five hours—hence the name Whip Moisturizer—to achieve a light soufflĂ©-like texture to preserve potency of the natural ingredients and to give them a light texture. Your complexion will be instantly moisturized leaving a healthy satin-matte finish.

The Apricot Whip Moisturizer by Eminence is a Fantastic product, your complexion is revitalized with vitamins A, B, C & D found in pure apricot and carrot juice. Pectin enriches, nourishes and moisturizes; skin is smooth, supple and has a youthful glow. Apricot has long been known for its age-defying properties and makes this moisturizer extra special to use.

If you’re looking for a moisturizer that adds some youth to your skin, the Blueberry Soy Night Recovery Cream by Eminence is for you. Beauty Resolutions for the New Year

As we come to the end of 2011, many of us are looking back on the year and the resolutions we had made the year before. Looking ahead to 2012, many of us are looking for change! I’ve been scrambling to pick a good New Year’s resolution, and mine for the year is a Newer, more Mature Me!

I know that it’s impossible to get a “new” you, what I mean is, I want a new look. Instead of doing the same beauty techniques; having the same hair, the same makeup, the same old clothes…. I’m craving a change. Some of you out there may be feeling the same, whether you’re getting older, and wish to add some youthful flair in your life, Or if you’re younger, and you want to finally be seen as an adult, I have some tips to give you that change, and “New” You Flair!

Unfortunately, I am cursed with a baby face, I look younger than my actual age, and it’s very frustrating. Many people assume that everyone wants to look younger but if you’re like me and you want to look your age here are some tips that will help you:

#1 Focus on your Cheeks: Take a Darker Tone blush, and create contours to your cheeks. When you have a round face, or your cheeks are a little to filled in, it makes you look almost child-like. By using blush, it creates curves to your cheeks that will give you a mature appearance. A great blush that I love is the Purepressed Blush by Jane Iredale. The Colors are so subtle and natural you’ll look like you’re glowing from the inside out! Another blush they offer is the In Touch Cream Blush, you just sweep across you cheeks for a flush that’s soft, dewy and natural. You can also use on your lips for a pulled-together look that stays all day and all night!

Trick: A good trick to try if just using a darker blush doesn’t seem to do it, combine a lighter blush to your look, by sweeping lighter blush above the cheek bones. This will make the darker blush contouring your cheeks more prominent.

#2 Focus on your Lips: Forget about the light pinks and nude lipsticks or glosses. You need to apply dark shades! Darker shades make you appear older. Apply an outline with a Lip Liner and then fill in with a Lip Stick or a Lip Gloss. If you want fun colors in a wide range of beautifully bright shades, I recommend Mirabella. The Colour Shine by Mirabella is infused with Vitamin C, Vitamin E and peppermint leaving your lips hydrated and refreshed. They also make corresponding Lip Liners with the Lip Lustre Liner by Mirabella. The Long-wearing shiny finish creates the perfect base for lip gloss formulas.

#3 Focus on your Eyes: Dark Eyebrows and Thick, Healthy Lashes also help to making you appear older. If you weren’t naturally gifted with these two things, there are ways to make them appear so.

  • For Lashes, apply mascara heavily to make lashes look healthy. Apply Eye Liner to your upper lashes. Note: Refrain from putting Eye Liner on lower lashes, it is a look most commonly used by Teenagers.

A Great Eye Liner that I personally Love is the All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner by Stila. It goes on like a Pen! It’s fast! It’s easy! I literally do not go to work without it! Goes on smoothly without skipping, smudging or pulling!

  • For Brows, when using an Eye Pencil to darken your brows, choose a shade darker or the same shade as your hair. Carefully apply, don’t over do it, or else it will appear artificial.

Stila also make an All Day Waterproof Brow Color that leaves your brows looking naturally defined. The formula glides on with ease, and stays put until you say when!

New Year’s Eve is a time of Fun! Where people go out and celebrate the end of one time period and the fresh beginning to another. I hope my tips get you one step closer to a more Fabulous you, for New Years! All these products I’ve recommended can be found at MissionBeautyOnline.com

Color Trends for Winter 2011

As Fall says goodbye, it's time to say hello winter. Trends and fads are constantly changing and it's never a bad thing to be in the loop. For Fall the look that was hot was purple. But times are changing...The color trends for winter are Metallic, Burgundy, Plum or Sapphire. They look good on almost anyone and adds glamour to the appearance. These colors are luxurious and there is hardly a way to spoil your look with it.

A great look look for make up this year, is a deep red Burgundy lip combined with a Metallic shimmery eye shadow. I recommend the Mink or Rapture Eye Shadow by Smashbox. These amazing products enhance your eyes with its velvety-smooth, superbly blendable eye shadows with a cashmere texture. This luxurious formula contains vitamin E to nourish skin and help shadow glide on and stay on. What more can you ask for in an eye shadow?

Tip: A good rule of thumb, if you think your look is just on the verge of to much, don't accentuate both your eyes and your lips. For Example, If you choose a dark lipstick, do a neutral shadow, or if you want to brighten your eyes with color, choose a nude or light lip colour.

A great lip colour that goes with either the Mink or Rapture Eye Shadow by Smashbox; is the Fetish Lip Fixation Lip Stain/Gloss by Jane Iredale. Each Lip Fixation boasts a lip stain and lip gloss in complimentary colors. Packed with botanicals, the stain actually soothes and pampers lips for comfortable, buildable coverage without feathering or drying. If you’re ready to commit to saturated, picture perfect color, cozy up to these irresistible shades.

And if you want to add natural color to your face to create beautiful, flushed cheeks, the Dubonnet Purepressed Blush by Jane Iredale goes perfect with the Fetish Lip Fixation.

So now that you know what colours are in for this Winter of 2011, all you have to do is find the right look for yourself this Holiday!
