Beauty Resolutions for the New Year

As we come to the end of 2011, many of us are looking back on the year and the resolutions we had made the year before. Looking ahead to 2012, many of us are looking for change! I’ve been scrambling to pick a good New Year’s resolution, and mine for the year is a Newer, more Mature Me!

I know that it’s impossible to get a “new” you, what I mean is, I want a new look. Instead of doing the same beauty techniques; having the same hair, the same makeup, the same old clothes…. I’m craving a change. Some of you out there may be feeling the same, whether you’re getting older, and wish to add some youthful flair in your life, Or if you’re younger, and you want to finally be seen as an adult, I have some tips to give you that change, and “New” You Flair!

Unfortunately, I am cursed with a baby face, I look younger than my actual age, and it’s very frustrating. Many people assume that everyone wants to look younger but if you’re like me and you want to look your age here are some tips that will help you:

#1 Focus on your Cheeks: Take a Darker Tone blush, and create contours to your cheeks. When you have a round face, or your cheeks are a little to filled in, it makes you look almost child-like. By using blush, it creates curves to your cheeks that will give you a mature appearance. A great blush that I love is the Purepressed Blush by Jane Iredale. The Colors are so subtle and natural you’ll look like you’re glowing from the inside out! Another blush they offer is the In Touch Cream Blush, you just sweep across you cheeks for a flush that’s soft, dewy and natural. You can also use on your lips for a pulled-together look that stays all day and all night!

Trick: A good trick to try if just using a darker blush doesn’t seem to do it, combine a lighter blush to your look, by sweeping lighter blush above the cheek bones. This will make the darker blush contouring your cheeks more prominent.

#2 Focus on your Lips: Forget about the light pinks and nude lipsticks or glosses. You need to apply dark shades! Darker shades make you appear older. Apply an outline with a Lip Liner and then fill in with a Lip Stick or a Lip Gloss. If you want fun colors in a wide range of beautifully bright shades, I recommend Mirabella. The Colour Shine by Mirabella is infused with Vitamin C, Vitamin E and peppermint leaving your lips hydrated and refreshed. They also make corresponding Lip Liners with the Lip Lustre Liner by Mirabella. The Long-wearing shiny finish creates the perfect base for lip gloss formulas.

#3 Focus on your Eyes: Dark Eyebrows and Thick, Healthy Lashes also help to making you appear older. If you weren’t naturally gifted with these two things, there are ways to make them appear so.

  • For Lashes, apply mascara heavily to make lashes look healthy. Apply Eye Liner to your upper lashes. Note: Refrain from putting Eye Liner on lower lashes, it is a look most commonly used by Teenagers.

A Great Eye Liner that I personally Love is the All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner by Stila. It goes on like a Pen! It’s fast! It’s easy! I literally do not go to work without it! Goes on smoothly without skipping, smudging or pulling!

  • For Brows, when using an Eye Pencil to darken your brows, choose a shade darker or the same shade as your hair. Carefully apply, don’t over do it, or else it will appear artificial.

Stila also make an All Day Waterproof Brow Color that leaves your brows looking naturally defined. The formula glides on with ease, and stays put until you say when!

New Year’s Eve is a time of Fun! Where people go out and celebrate the end of one time period and the fresh beginning to another. I hope my tips get you one step closer to a more Fabulous you, for New Years! All these products I’ve recommended can be found at MissionBeautyOnline.com

Color Trends for Winter 2011

As Fall says goodbye, it's time to say hello winter. Trends and fads are constantly changing and it's never a bad thing to be in the loop. For Fall the look that was hot was purple. But times are changing...The color trends for winter are Metallic, Burgundy, Plum or Sapphire. They look good on almost anyone and adds glamour to the appearance. These colors are luxurious and there is hardly a way to spoil your look with it.

A great look look for make up this year, is a deep red Burgundy lip combined with a Metallic shimmery eye shadow. I recommend the Mink or Rapture Eye Shadow by Smashbox. These amazing products enhance your eyes with its velvety-smooth, superbly blendable eye shadows with a cashmere texture. This luxurious formula contains vitamin E to nourish skin and help shadow glide on and stay on. What more can you ask for in an eye shadow?

Tip: A good rule of thumb, if you think your look is just on the verge of to much, don't accentuate both your eyes and your lips. For Example, If you choose a dark lipstick, do a neutral shadow, or if you want to brighten your eyes with color, choose a nude or light lip colour.

A great lip colour that goes with either the Mink or Rapture Eye Shadow by Smashbox; is the Fetish Lip Fixation Lip Stain/Gloss by Jane Iredale. Each Lip Fixation boasts a lip stain and lip gloss in complimentary colors. Packed with botanicals, the stain actually soothes and pampers lips for comfortable, buildable coverage without feathering or drying. If you’re ready to commit to saturated, picture perfect color, cozy up to these irresistible shades.

And if you want to add natural color to your face to create beautiful, flushed cheeks, the Dubonnet Purepressed Blush by Jane Iredale goes perfect with the Fetish Lip Fixation.

So now that you know what colours are in for this Winter of 2011, all you have to do is find the right look for yourself this Holiday!

Shadows for your Eye Color!

As they say, the eyes are the window of the soul, so highlight your eyes if they are your best feature. The trick is to match your shadow to your complexion, not your clothes. Certain shadows, work for you and against you depending on your eye color. A great make up line I would recommend would be Mirabella. Mirabella makes an alluring array of intense shimmer, sheen and matte pressed mineral eye shadows. Available in 36 shades. Below I've listed my recommendations based on your eye color.
Blue: To make those baby blues shine, wear brown, plum, gold, peach or grey colour eye shadow.
I personally love Mirabella Eye Colour, because of there great colors, and they have the perfect amount of shimmer, that highlight your eyes. If you want to make those baby blues stand out I would suggest Semiformal, Vintage, Decor, Guava & Steel Eye Colour by Mirabella.
Green/Hazel: to make green or golden eyes stand out, combine it with a deep purple eye colour.
For Hazel or Green eye colors, I recommend Cultured or Hydrangea Eye Colour by Mirabella. They are both shades of purple, Cultured is a deep purple, while Hydrangea is a lighter shade of Lavender.
Brown: Brown eyes are more difficult to match with depending on your complexion, but you can never go wrong with green or bronze eye colour.
Personally I have brown eyes, and I hate the fact that anytime I pick a color I don't like the way they make my eyes look. But after trying some of Mirabella's Eye Colour on, I do agree that for brown eyes you definitely can't go wrong with green or bronze. I Definitely think you ladies out there with brown eyes like me should try the Fortune, Sweet Pea, and Bitter Honey Eye Colour by Mirabella.
I know just reading about a color or a product isn't the same as seeing it, so if you want the proof just go to MissionBeautyOnline.com and Search for Mirabella's Eye Colour, where you can see the colors I recommend!

The Do’s and Don’ts for office-ready Beauty!

We all know that we need to be presentable at work. Wet hair, smudged eyeliner, and chipped nails are a definite No-no. Many of us struggle with the balance of being presentable and looking fabulous. Today, I’m going to list a few tricks that blend well in an Office environment, and make you look beautiful!
Tip 1: Don't shy away from color, especially when it comes to lipstick. Red lipstick looks right, even in a boardroom. Shy away from glosses and try a matte, creamy lipstick like Bellisima Lip Colour by Mirabella. A Perfect red mouth, with a bit of blush and a neutral eye shadow, always looks appropriate.

(Trick: to ensure the lipstick doesn't bleed, fill in your lips with a nude pencil before applying, I recommend the Lip Pencil by Colorescience.)

Bold makeup can work at the office, but some people shy away from the bold look. Simple makeup is never a bad idea, especially for meetings and impromptu luncheons.

Tip 2: With a swipe of moisturizer to make your skin shine, combine it with mascara, concealer, and a little blush adds just enough polish to your appearance to make you look fresh, and beautiful. A great mascara to try would be the Purelash Lengthening Mascara by Jane Iredale. This amazing mascara has added Dex-Panthenol to the formula in liposome form, so that with every swipe you add a conditioner to your lashes!

Hair, on the other hand, isn't always so simple. Some of us spend hours each morning blow drying, curling, ironing and teasing our tresses. For a perfectly sleek 'do, a professional blow dry--also known as a blowout--is worth the cash.

Tip 3: If you're weary about spending money on something you can do for yourself, invest in the Haute Mess Dry Shampoo by Hempz. This product instantly absorbs the oils in hair, and gives hair a soft, matte finish without caking.

(Trick: To give hair that extra oomph—just apply it at your roots all over your head and brush through.)

Just remember looking presentable for work, doesn't mean you have to look boring! Get the products I recommended at MissionBeautyOnline.com

Protecting your skin in the Winter Season

Winter season can be extremely stressful on your skin because of cold temperatures outside as well as humidity from being indoors. When you shift between the cold outside and the warm inside, the difference is so stressful on your skin that your skin naturally cannot balance itself quickly enough. The results of this combination cause loss of hydration, irritation, widened capillaries and redness; so just because its winter doesn’t mean that you stop taking care of your skin. Here at MissionBeautyOnline.com we have several lines that offer the best skin care products that you will need to treat your skin.

One product that I recommend is the Tropical Vanilla Sun Cream by Eminence; it has Natural SPF protection for all skins with broad spectrum UVA/UVB/UVC protection. It treats your skin with the protection of zinc in a UVA/UVB/UVC blocker specially designed for your face. It combines hydrating and revitalizing shea butter with the soothing aroma of vanilla to care for your skin with the defenses of natural SPF. The great thing about this product is that it hydrates and protects your skin.

Another great Eminence product is the Tomato Sun Cream SPF16; it works as a natural Sunscreen & Moisturizer. Its Benefits are listed below:
• Increases the level of moisture retention in the skin
• Full range of UV sun protection: UVA, UVB & UVC
• significantly reduces inflammation and darkening of the skin
• Supplies the skin with bioflavonoids and nutrients
• Helps to protect the skin from photo-aging
• Maintains and improves moisture levels
• Protects against environmental damage

But creams and moisturizers might not be enough protection during the winter season. Since most of us ladies cover our skin up with foundation and powders, and unfortunately some aren’t made to protect your skin. I would use the Sunforgettable Eyescreen by ColoreScience, a product recently featured in Shape Magazine.

Merciless sun rays are often to blame for breaking down the skin's elasticity and natural resistance around the eyes; leaving an already sensitive area even more prone to dreaded wrinkles and age spots. Protect, diffuse, and accentuate with Sunforgettable SPF30 Eyescreen.

The light pink powder plays tricks on the eyes, camouflaging dark circles and fine lines in just a few quick, magical strokes. Velvety in feel, Eyescreen brightens the eye area while concealing. Used alone or over other products Eyescreen will have you proclaiming, "EYE LOVE COLORESCIENCE!"

So Don't Forget to Check out these products at MissionBeautyOnline.com

How to Look your best this Holiday Season!

During the Holiday Season we all want to look our best, whether it’s a party or an everyday event. In today’s world of fashion, to be “in” is more than just having the right haircut or clothes. It’s also about how to wear your makeup. We all have different styles, and different goals on how we want to look. One holiday trend this year is a chic, deep dark lip. Plum, Raspberry, and Wine colors are recommended. But if you’re fair skinned like me, you might not like such a dark color for your complexion. But not to worry you can still be in style with a dark lip, not using the above colors. Instead of the dark purples, and dark maroons; I recommend Brick Reds and Dark Pinks.

Whether you prefer a stain, a gloss, or a lipstick; a dark lip balances perfectly between classic and sexy. It’s a look that can never go wrong, combine it with a Nude eye shadow makes for a classy everyday look. For a more glam look combine it with the never failing Smokey eye. Which ever is the look for you during the winter season, dark lips is a look that goes with every occasion. To choose the right look for you; you must first ask yourself am I a gloss, lipstick or stain kind of girl? Choosing between the three is somewhat difficult, but it really depends on what you’re looking for in your lip color. Below I have listed the benefits of all three.

Lip Gloss: You want to use lip gloss to give you lips more volume giving your lips a fuller look.

Lip Stick: You want to use lipstick to give your lips a thick creamy texture that both hydrates your lips, and give you longer wear and more coverage.

Lip Stain: You want to use a lip stain to tint your lips with smudge proof color and coverage that lasts all day.

We all have our preferences on our make-up but it’s good to sometimes switch it up for a new look. So whether you prefer a gloss to a lipstick, or you prefer a lipstick to a stain try something new, you just might be surprised. Once you decide on a lipstick, a stain or a gloss, you then ask yourselves what band to choose. I recommended three products that I believe you will love!

If you are looking for a stain I highly recommend the Pomegranate Crush Lip & Cheek Stain by Stila. It’s infused with a naturally staining pomegranate extract, so that it reads and reacts to your personal pH levels to create a personalized deep plum shade. Leaving your lips and cheeks with a youthful glow.

If you are looking for a Lip Gloss I would recommend the Cherry Sparkle Gloss by Jane Iredale. This gloss is shiny, soothing, protective- and let’s not forget super sexy! Jane Iredale’s tingly mint and ginger flavor plumps without chemicals. This gloss leaves you with lips that speak louder than words!

If you are looking for a Lipstick I would aim you toward Drama Queen by Mirabella. This lipstick gives you a Rich, high-pigment shade that goes on smooth and stays put with no bleeding.

To complete your look for a classy everyday look, I recommend the natural eye shadow palette by Stila. The Natural eye shadow palette is a beautiful collection of Stila's award-winning eye shadows in wearable, neutral shades for every skin tone that can be worn wet or dry. The palette also includes an exclusive Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Damsel, a matte chocolate brown, and a 6-page look book with detailed how-to tips and tricks. If you’re looking for a look with a little more drama, I also recommend Girls on Film Smokebox Palette by Smashbox. This Palette will make your eyes Smolder like an A-list starlet with a sultry palette of dramatic shades, perfect for creating any smoky eye look.
So ladies now that I’ve given you the tips and tricks to make your eyes and lips trendy for this holiday season, It’s up too you to create that perfect look, Whether you’re going for the everyday classy look or spicing it up for a night out on the town. Either way you’ll be looking sassy this Holiday Season!

Eye's Wide Open!

Most often the first thing a person looks at or into is the eyes, however its often the one thing that we neglect the most! I recently spoke with an estitician who gave me the downlow on why taking care of your eyes is a must!

Using anti-aging products daily is an effective way to maintain younger-looking skin. However, it’s important not to forget about your eyes. The delicate skin around your eyes is the most sensitive skin on your face—and the most susceptible to aging. The most important thing you can do for your eyes is apply an anti-aging/hydrating cream or serum on a daily basis. Applying a cream or a serum provides hydration and anti-aging benefits. These two things will help slow down your eyes from developing crows feet, wrinkles, and sun spots. If you're looking to hydrate the skin around your eyes, it is best to use an eye cream, this thicker consistency will supply more moisture to your eye area. For someone looking for an eye cream with less consistency a serum is the perfect choice. Serums are not as thick but still supply you with enough hydration and anti-aging benefits, just like a cream would.

So, by simply taking our advice and applying an eye cream or a serum on a daily basis can help prevent aging and keep your eyes hydrated and looking beautiful!
